9 Breastfeeding Essentials

Here are some of my breastfeeding essentials.

1) Milk Savers. Do you get annoyed when you leak and think, "I could have used that milk!" Now they have milk savers! You put it in your bra and insert your nipple into the hole of the container, and while you are nursing on one side, you are catching the milk that is leaking from the other. I like the Haakaa USA silicone milk catcher better- such a lifesaver and made of 100% silicone.

2) Breastfeeding Pillow. I like the My Brest Friend nursing pillow with organic slipcover and The Sustainable Baby Co (discount code DRORGANICMOMMY) nursing pillow.

3) Nipple Cream. I love Motherlove Herbal Company organic nipple cream and Earth Mama organic nipple butter cream (use code DRORGANICMOMMY). I put this on after nursing and wipe it off before starting again. I also use Silverette Silver Nursing Cups.

4) Lactation Consultant. Consult a lactation consultant with any challenges you may be facing while breastfeeding. Have them check your nipple size and whether or not your nipples are inverted or not popping out enough.

5) Extra Pump Sets. These are the keys to not driving myself insane washing pump parts (& yes I wash them by hand because they are plastic). I have the pump parts listed here on my Amazon store.

6) Pumping Bras. PumpEase Hands Free Organic pumping bra. I also love the Cache Coeur nursing bras.

7 Lactation Tea. Legendairy Activist and Tea-Tas

8) Vitamin D + postpartum vitamins. I recommend Mary Ruth Organics vitamin D (use code DRORGANICMOMMY) and Perelel Mom Multi Support postpartum vitamins (use code DRORGANICMOMMY).

9) Breast Pumps. I love Medela Symphony and the Spectra S1 electric baby pump.

10) Make sure to check flange size by measuring your nipple by using a silicone nipple ruler.

Tip: Make sure you have padsciles. Check out my Amazon shop here for the organic products: Rael pads, aloe vera, vitamin E oil and witch hazel. Padsicles can be used for c-section scar too- just make sure the scar doesn’t get wet as the padsicles will leak onto scar, so place a cloth in between. Also, make sure you have a postpartum peri bottle (you can use the one from the hospital).
