Quarantine Birthday

Does your child have a birthday coming up? ๐ŸŽ‚๐ŸŽ‚๐ŸŽ‚
I know it is going to be hard because they canโ€™t see their friends or family but here are some tips to help make them feel special. โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ € .
1) Video messages from friends and family.
2) Sending hand written letters because kids love to get mail.
3) Decorate their room - When they go to sleep after they have been asleep for a couple hours, go in and decorate their room โ€“ you donโ€™t need to buy party supplies. Cut up paper, draw things, paper cut outs, pictures, etc. If you have access to a printer- print pictures of your child through the years and put on walls outside their room.
4) Bake a cake โ€“ with them or for them. My favorite sprinkles are on my amazon shop under the food category.
5) Make fun birthday party games- Take a pillow sheet and make a potato sack race! Plan a scavenger hunt.
6) And one more: a drive by parade of friends/family driving by in their cars with signs.

If your child is upset and asks why are we not having a birthday party? Say โ€œI know you really wanted to have a birthday party. We are celebrating as a family and it is your special day.โ€ If they ask why canโ€™t I be with my friends- the response can beโ€ฆ โ€œI know it is really hard and you wanted to be with your friends. Right now everyone is staying home so that we can make sure everyone is safe and healthy.โ€
