Phlegm Reducing Pear Soup

When my kids were recently battling a cold, I found this soup to be incredibly helpful in reducing phlegm and speeding up recovery.

Traditional Chinese Medicine Suggests that pears reduce phlegm and there is some research on it as well:

Ingredients for the Soup:

-4 cups of water

- 3 pears, peeled, cored, and cut into 4-6 slices

- 1 cinnamon stick

- 2 thin slices of fresh ginger

- 1 vanilla bean or 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

- Raw local honey and lemon juice to taste

Instructions:

1. Start by cooking the pears down first.

2. Gradually add the other ingredients.

3. Cover the pot, reduce heat, and let it simmer for about 30 minutes.

4. Before serving, discard the ginger and cinnamon.

Enjoy this soothing soup for relief!
