PUMP + PUMP PARTS/ FEEDING
You need to make sure that you have the correct flange size for your nipple. The average is 24mm.
I bought a few sets so I didn’t have to wash them all the time. Also, get the duckbill valves as those are better in my opinion. Extra parts are not necessary to get before giving birth.
Below are three of my favorite pumps. That said, the type of pump you get differs based on your needs.
Breastfeeding tip: if you are struggling with supply, and/or baby struggles to latch, they may have a tongue tie which is very common. Especially if you hear a clicking noise when they are nursing. Make sure to get this checked out by a physician/dentist/lactation consultant as you may need to have it released.
For tips on Breast Milk storage please check out my blog on that here.
Medela Symphony hospital grade pump
Can rent it because it is quieter and takes less time to pump but not portable. You never wash the tubing otherwise it will create mold. To clean it, you run the pump for several minutes while the tubes are not attached to any parts to create airflow.
Spectra S1
Not technically hospital grade but it is strong and portable. Bulkier than the other portable ones (like the Medela free style, but it’s stronger than free style, and is a closed system where as the Medela free style is an open system which can lead to mold).
ELVIE
You are pumping into hard plastic rather than bags so it is less wasteful. It also has a shut off so if you are pumping more than 4oz it will stop so it doesn’t overflow.
Haakaa Milk Catcher
This is not a pump but rather a great way to collect milk when you are nursing so you don't waste milk.
Haakaa colostrum collector
Haakaa ladybug milk collector
Medela tube
BPA-free Medela connectors
Breast shields
Duckbill valves
Replace these every 6-8 weeks. I prefer these one piece silicone valves compared to the Medela silicone and plastic membranes - these need to be replaced every 4-6 week depending on the usage. These Duckbill Valves fit for both the Spectra and Medela pump.
spectra Baby bottle thread changer
Attaches to the Spectra connector to a narrow mouth bottle versus pumping into a wide-mouth bottle.
Spectra flange
In case you need extra.
Spectra tubing
Spectra comes with one set but I always like to have a second on hand.
Backflow protector
These are a necessary component for the Spectra pump, this attaches to the tubing on one side and on the flange on the other.
Mason Ball Jars
4oz & 8oz options; I freeze the breast milk in these jars and only store 3-3.5 In each 4oz glass jar.
Hexagon glass jars
Chalkboard stickers
I use these blackboard stickers to write the date and amount of milk on my mason jar.
Breast milk bags
When purchasing breast milk storage bags, it is best to make sure they are BPA and BPS free (when thawing breast milk, it is best to thaw in fridge, or put bag in cold water first, then warm water, the pour in glass bottle to heat).
Milkies Freeze
Helps you organize your bags.
DEEP FREEZER
This is the deep freezer I have. This is not necessary but I made a lot of milk and a breastmilk lasts 6-12 months in a deep freezer vs 3-6 months in a regular freezer. And remember never put your breastmilk on the freezer door. Always in the back of the freezer.
NURSING BRAS
Bravado or Cake nursing bras (you will live in these 24 hours a day). I also found an organic bra by Boob Maternity which is really comfy but can’t handle holding the pump parts when pumping.
PumpEase Hands free organic pumping bra
CACHE COEUR NURSING BRA
NIPPLE CREAM
Motherlove nipple cream is olive oil based and Earth Mama nipple butter is coconut based, so it depends on what you like better. I personally liked Mother Love better.
Silverette nursing cups
These are expensive but silver is a naturally anti-microbial and helps heal your sore nipples. These are a life saver and my number one recommendation for nursing mothers.
Legendairy
Love all Legendairy milk products. I personally don’t like taking pills all the time so I love the lactivist product.
Oxo counter dryer rack
Love this and still looks nice sitting out.
OXO Tot Space Saving Drying Rack

Dr. Brown’s Natural Flow Reusable Baby Bottle Vent System and Reservoir Cleaning Bristle Brush
To clean in the crevices pump parts.
Baby tracker schedule log
There are lots of apps available. I’ve used the baby connect app and really like it. I was able to share it with my newborn care specialist which helped a lot.
ORGANIC OATMEAL
Eating oatmeal may help breastmilk supply. Make sure your oats are glyphosate free.I personally love One-Degree Organics because they are certified glyphosate free.
