Why You May Want to Ditch Your White Noise Machine
A new study reveals that the loud volume of white noise machines may be having negative effects on our child. The study highlights that while white noise machines may be helping young children sleep:
- These machines can get dangerously loud because there's no volume regulation.
- Long-term exposure to loud noise can harm children's hearing and brain development.
- Caregivers should avoid using loud or prolonged white noise for their children.
- Government should regulate the volume of white noise machines.

If you’re going to use noise to help mask environmental noises then you should use pink noise which is structured like sounds of waves. This is the machine that we use that I have been liking. When using a noise machine it’s best to always have it at least 3 feet away from a crib/bed or even better place it outside of the room.
