Getting Your Kids to Eat Salad

How do you get your kids to eat salad? 🥗 🥗 🥗 
It can be daunting especially when some of the textures & sizes of veggies can be overwhelming for small mouths.

Tip 1: Grate veggies and chop lettuce so it is easier for them to fit in their mouth.
2: It’s all about dressing. Kids love dressing! You can have them dip it or pour it on themselves so they take ownership of it.
3: Try separating everything out and allowing them the choice of what to put in their salad. 
4. Add a grain like quinoa. It provides a different texture that can be more comforting, not as intimidating, and more palatable when mixed with grated veggies.
5. Modeling. If you’ve been following me for awhile you know that I use this word often. Kids learn from you. If they see you enjoying something they might be more willing to indulge in the action. 
This is a recipe of the salad I’m serving for Father’s Day brunch. We’re having our close friends and family over and luckily it’s not all on me as it will be a potluck.

KID FRIENDLY SALAD
1 head romaine (chopped small)
1 bunch kale ribbed, shredded/chopped finely, salted
1 pt of grape tomatoes halved- my kids love sun golds
2 c. cooked sprouted quinoa
6 hardboiled pasture raised eggs - hardboiled eggs: bring water to boil, cook for 12 minutes, peel (sub for beans to make vegan 🌱)
1 box of micro greens
1 8oz pack of @woodstockfoods peas
1 8oz pack of @woodstockfoods corn
4 carrots grated
1 sprinkle of @pickledplanet beet kraut

Balsamic vinaigrette for dressing:
Blend 1 cup of extra virgin olive oil, 1 cup of balsamic vinegar, 2 tsp of salt, 2 tsp of ground pepper, 2 cloves of garlic, 1 tsp dijon mustard.
